Solar System

Solar System is a psychedelic trance producer who is releasing full on, usually on the melodic morning side. He already released his tracks on many labels and did a lot of collaborations with stabilished artists. Here he talks about his music and plans for the future.
Enjoy!

fullonline: Who is "Solar System", where you are from, why you choose this name to your project and what is your musical background?

Solar System DJ Set Solar System: I am Lior Lahav from the north Naharyia city in Israel, 23 years old. Making music since I was 16 years old, I choose the name because I like it.
I am studying business manager (BA).

fullonline: Are you married and/or have kids?

Solar System: Not yet... But of course I want be married when the time come. I love kids but I don't have for now!!!

fullonline: Can you keep a comfortable lifestyle working only as a psychedelic artist or a second job is needed?

Solar System: I work very hard on studio and always give my best on every party, but I'm very humble and accept that I'm beginning and so things are not so fast, but always improving.

I am a student, and I don't plan to leave the classes because I understand their importance and I want to learn more.
Also I like to help people, I help some organizers, and I try to help everyone who asks me for help.

fullonline: What is on your CD Player right now?

Solar System: Well this is hard question, I like a lot of my stuff, but these are my favorite tracks:

Solar System - Mastermind, Solar System - Circle of Life, Solar System - Move 2 the Groove.

fullonline: What other music style do you listen to?

Solar System: I like rock: U2, Metallica, Guns'n'Roses, Linkin Park, Coldplay (my favorite is Speed of Sound from their last album) and more... I listen to it when I back from the studio to get other feelings, or in the car.

fullonline: Which one of your own music do you like the most? Does it have a special meaning to you?

Solar System: Well, I like the track: Solar System - Mastermind. I like the groovy in the bass and the samples and the end of this track.
I also like Circle of Life and my track Rizika, with Quantum.

fullonline: What Psytrance Artists would you like to work with?

Solar System: Well, I always like work with good people, I have tracks with: Perplex, Quantum, Echotek... Soon more! ;)
Its good work with more artists I always open for ideas. I'm open to offers, specially good persons making good music on my style, but I'm also open to other styles as well.

I have track a progressive track with Guy Shanty, 138 bpm.
It's great sometimes change the atmosphere and try new things!

fullonline: Is there any equipment you think can help you produce better music?

Solar System: I like the Korg a lot, but Virus C is great too!

fullonline: Do you prefer to play at parties at any specific time?

Solar System: I like to play in the morning, when the sun is out, or some time after it, but in the morning for sure! The sunrise has a great vibe, I can't explain this, but when I play in the morning I feel the people and see them happy This is all for me!
The vibe in party it's the best things I think and I got more of it in the morning!

fullonline: How do you choose the samples of your tracks?

Solar System: Must of the time I take from movies, but not all, some I record alone, some take from some crazy ideas...

When I heard a good sample in a movie, I run the vocal in my head together with the track and than I take them and try it in the studio.

fullonline: You released tracks on different labels like Alchemy Records, USTA and Trancelucent Records. How do you choose the label you want to submit your track?

Wild Life 3 - Surfing on Soundwaves Solar System: Well, must of time labels ask me if I have any new track and I send to them and they choose, of course I need to give the last word, but they choose.

fullonline: What are your future releases, and what are the labels you're currently working with? Any plan of releasing your debut album?

Solar System: I released on: BNE, Vision Quest, MP, Utopia, Point Zero and more This some out and some out soon:

Noga - Moksha Mania (Solar System rmx)

Solar System - Love Freedom

Noga vs Solar System - Above the Ground

Solar System - Mastermind

About the album, very, very soon I'll start to work on it.

fullonline: What do you think about people sharing music through mp3 instead of buying it? What about DJs who play mp3 instead of full quality music?

Solar System: It's good and not good, it's good for promotion, but not good to play it in parties. Its a good thing to people know you, but I prefer them to buy the CD, I think it's the minimum respect.

MP3 has no quality, so it's not professional play it.

fullonline: You prefer to play a DJ set or a Live Act? Why?

Solar System: It's the same for me I like both! Sometimes a DJ set can be more flexible, for example if I have to play 3:00am my Live will be too melodic for this time, but I can play a night DJ set, with some less melodic tunes. I always come to the party some time before my set, I don't know what I'm going to play, but I see the people and I go with them ;)

fullonline: In your DJ sets you usually play tracks from which other artists?

Solar System: Yes of course, I play tracks from: Astrix, GMS, Time Lock, Oforia, Sub6 and more.

I liked the Alchemy Records compilation Wild Life 3 a lot, specially my track, and also Israliens 5, specially the Chakra remix to Sub6 and Astrix Solaris part 2.

A good classic for me is Astrix Kali, it's been some time since I played it on my set for the last time, I think I'll spin it in some party soon, to bring up some classic vibe to the dance floor.

fullonline: What makes a good party? You think decoration is important?

Solar System: For me the music, I don't care who dance near me, I only care the music, when the music good all the party good, and the vibe coming.

About decoration, it's different when it's open air or indoor, but I like it a lot, it add colors to the dance floor.

fullonline: What do you think people should do to make a better scene? Any vision about the future?

Solar System: People should come to parties and buy music, organizers could make a big parties, like Solaris and XXXperience in Brazil.

The Labels should release only quality music, but for now its good, since its increasing and more and more people know artists, tracks, parties, etc.

fullonline: How long does it take for you to make a new track, from the ideas and inspirations to the dance floor? Any hint for a person who is starting making psytrance?

Solar System: It changes form time to time, sometimes 3 weeks, sometimes 2 months: it changes all the time, all the importance is in the vibe.

For those who are starting now, here is my advice: Be professional, take things seriously, do not let things unfinished and go to the end always wanting to get better.

fullonline: We all know that all kind of weird stuff happen at psychedelic gatherings. Can you tell us something different/funny that you saw or happened to you in a party?

Solar System: One time a girl started to scream and took her their t-shirts out ;)

Many times people came to shake my hand after my set and asking if I have CDs to sell. This shows people are concerned about the music.

fullonline: Any last comment, message and/or promotional link?

Solar System: "Believe and go on God's way, and all the big problems in your life will become so small."

fullonline: Thank you!
Respect!
