Headstick Records

Headstick Records is a label based in Greece. It has released quality albums since 2004, when their first release came out. It's an eclectic label that released different kinds of music, in fact they' re two labels: Headstick Records is responsible for releasing all kinds of psytrance and Joystick Records only releases other styles of electronic music. Last release of Headstick Records was the remixes of an old classic: Magus.
Enjoy!

fullonline: Who are the persons responsible for Headstick Records and what are your goals as a psytrance label?

Headstick Records: Our team is made up from me Chris (aka Igneous), Damod, Absolute Zero and Gio & Dima (aka Drone). We're looking to release as much new music as possible from new names as well as from well known ones. There are two labels in fact, Headstick & Joystick. Headstick is aiming at psytrance listeners while Joystick is more into the progressive/electro house/trance side of thingiez!

fullonline: Can you keep a comfortable lifestyle working only as psychedelic trance label manager or a second job is needed?

Headstick Records: I guess it depends on where you live, and things can go up and down....

fullonline: What are your future releases and in your opinion which of your releases had more impact on the psytrance scene?

Headstick Records: We haven't had many releases yet, to have that big of an impact... So far we've released 4 CDs and one 12". These are:

HDSTKCD001 - Igneous Sauria - Skint
HDSTKCD002 - Opsis - The man and the machine
HDSTKCD003 - Drone - 23 days
HDSTKCD004 - V/A - Magus remixes
JSTKEP001 - MV - Come back to me

Forthcoming releases on Headstick include:

HDSTKCD005 - Igneous - Skip insect (September)
HDSTKCD006 - Atropa - TBO (October)
HDSTKCD007 - Drone - TBO (November)

And on Joystick:

JSTKCD001 - Gio Red - Yesterday's words about tomorrow (August)
JSTKCD002 - V/A - Electric Passion compiled by Damod (September)

fullonline: How it was to remix release the Magus remixes CD?

Headstick Records: Hahaha... many options! Like a multiple choice in your English course questions! I guess it was a bit of a "refreshing" task!

fullonline: I know Headstick Records is an eclectic label. What music styles have you released?

Headstick Records: Headstick is more about the "trance" sound. We are trying to be as variable as possible as possible to our prespective, you might see more progressive stuff like the drone album, but see more "psytrance" stuff in the near future. Joystick is aiming at slower progressive sound.

fullonline: What Psytrance artists are signed currently on Headstick crew?

Headstick Records: Igneous, Drone and all their subprojects, Atropa, Opsis, and we're always looking. We dont really like to have projects tight to us. They are all free to release to anyone else they want!

fullonline: What kind of support you give to the artists you work with?

Headstick Records: For the moment just release their music!

fullonline: How do you choose the music you will release?

Headstick Records: What sounds good as soon as you put it on qualifies!

fullonline: What do you think and feel about the Greek scene. Lately I've seen a lot of complains about the scene there. Please comment.

Headstick Records: I think the scene is as healthy as it is on other places! There's no huge parties, but there's never been here anyway!

fullonline: What do you think about people sharing music through mp3 instead of buying it?

Headstick Records: I think it's good promotion on the one side... It happened before in other ways so I dont think it makes so much difference for the labels. What makes the difference is the existence of a unbelievably huge number of labels these days, that you cant buy all the CDs! so you buy one, your friend buys a different one and then you copy them between you! but that's the way it's always been really!

fullonline: You have any Label DJ?

Headstick Records: Mentioned the team before, most of them DJ... The reason why we've chosen them is because they can get, play and/or make good music!

fullonline: Tell us about your homepage: You think its a good way to contact the fans and artists? Are you planning an update?

Headstick Records: Isn't it the best cost effective way of advertising? Well for sure mate!

fullonline: What other labels are releasing good music in your opinion these days?

Headstick Records: Difficult question! I would mention plastic park from germany, Vertikal also from there, VP and Domo from Israel, Flow from portugal.

fullonline: What are the online stores selling psytrance that you trust?

Headstick Records: What do you mean by trust? There are 5-6 shops and they all seem to be quite trust worthy!

fullonline: What makes a good party? You think decoration is important is more important than the line up?

Headstick Records: Sound system and people around.

fullonline: What do you think people should do to make a better scene? Any vision about the future?

Headstick Records: It is going to be split into different sub scenes and genres as it always happens, because people can't all follow the same likings!

fullonline: What is your favorite psychoactive molecule?

Headstick Records: Beer + skunk!

fullonline: We all know that all kind of weird stuff happen at psychedelic gatherings. Can you tell us something different/funny that you saw or happened to you in a party?

Headstick Records: Will never forget the guy that run around naked at Ozora Eclipse party...

fullonline: Any last comment, message and/or promotional link?

Headstick Records: Cheers for making this thing come true!
